Who are you?
BBB Heart of Texas is seeking a seasoned professional to serve as BBB’s senior market-facing leader in the Fort Worth region. This is a highly visible, director-level position requiring someone who can quickly establish credibility, high-level stakeholder relationships, and translate strategic connections into measurable organizational outcomes.
About the position
As a Director of Business & Community Engagement, you are responsible for driving strategic business development, revenue growth, and community partnerships. This role focuses on cultivating high-value relationships, generating qualified opportunities, and advancing accreditation, sponsorship, and long-term engagement objectives while strengthening BBB’s media visibility, credibility, and impact within the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities -
Business Development & Revenue Support:
- Lead business development efforts in the Fort Worth market by identifying, cultivating, and advancing opportunities that support accreditation growth, sponsorships, and strategic initiatives.
- Engage prospective businesses through relationship-based outreach, warm introductions, referrals, and community presence.
- Conduct high-level value conversations with business leaders to communicate the benefits of BBB Accreditation and partnership.
- Close select accreditation opportunities when appropriate and coordinate seamless handoff to Business Development Representatives.
- Maintain a working pipeline of active opportunities aligned with organizational goals.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with chambers, economic development organizations, industry associations, nonprofits, and civic leaders.
- Identify sponsorship, partnerships, and collaborative programming opportunities that support revenue, visibility, and mission impact.
- Work closely with the Development team to surface prospects for sponsorships, events, and long-term partnerships.
- Represent BBB in high-level stakeholder conversations where credibility, trust, and relationship depth are critical.
- Serve as a senior BBB ambassador across the Fort Worth market through speaking engagements, networking events, business visits, and public appearances.
- Maintain a visible presence at community events, industry forums, and leadership gatherings.
- Support earned media efforts by identifying story opportunities, participating in interviews, and coordinating with the Communications team.
- Serve as an on-camera spokesperson for the organization when needed.
- Provide consistent lead intelligence and market insights for Sales, Development, Communications, and Executive Leadership.
- Submit weekly activity and Impact reports outlining meetings, pipeline movement, partnerships, and outcomes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment, transparency, and effective execution.
- Support regional events, initiatives, and leadership priorities as assigned.
- Assist with local investigations or business escalations as needed.
- Uphold BBB’s mission, values, and standards in all interactions.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and performance improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven ability to build relationships that lead to revenue, partnerships, or strong strategic outcomes.
- Strong business acumen and comfort navigating executive-level conversations.
- Excellent public speaking, presentation, and professional communication skills.
- Ability to influence outcomes without relying solely on transactional sales.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage a development pipeline and community calendar.
- Comfortable in representing the organization publicly, including on camera and at high-profile events.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related fields.
- Minimum of five years of experience in business development, partnerships, community engagement, or sales-adjacent leadership roles.
