About the position
As our Accounting Manager, you will play a key leadership role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization. In our lean accounting team, this position offers the unique opportunity to engage across the full accounting cycle—from payroll and reconciliations to financial reporting and analysis.
You will lead core financial processes including payroll administration, month-end close, account reconciliations, and performance analysis. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will be essential in strengthening internal controls, improving reporting reliability, and ensuring compliance with established policies.
This role goes beyond traditional accounting management—you will partner across departments to provide actionable financial insights that support strategic decision-making and organizational success. You will also oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, guiding coordinators to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and accountability in all transactions.
Additionally, you will take an active role in enhancing our financial systems and processes—identifying opportunities for improvement, resolving system challenges, and implementing solutions that increase efficiency and clarity. By tracking key performance indicators, analyzing discrepancies, and recommending improvements, you will help foster a culture of financial transparency and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all financial operations, including payroll month-end close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion. This includes monitoring and analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Supervise the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions. Provide guidance and support to these teams while implementing effective internal controls and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce errors.
- Drive the establishment and management of key performance indicators (KPIs), regularly reviewing financial performance against organizational goals. Conduct root cause analysis of discrepancies or inefficiencies in financial processes and implement corrective actions to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations.
- Actively collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial strategies align with the organization’s broader goals, providing financial insights and reporting that support decision-making. Contribute to audit preparation, financial statement review, and other key financial management tasks as needed.
Additional Duties:
- Ensure continuous development of financial processes to improve overall organizational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with various departments to align financial strategies with company goals.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the AP and AR teams, fostering an environment of growth and efficiency.
- Actively participate in management meetings to provide financial insights and contribute to decision-making processes.
- Perform other duties as required by the Director of Finance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, practices, and regulations
- Experience with payroll management, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls

- 4-year college degree or equivalent in a business-related accounting & finance field
- 4+ years of accounting/finance experience
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
- Experience with financial software and accounting platforms
- Not-for-profit accounting and leadership experience preferred
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct preferred
- Familiarity with GAAP, accrual, and cash basis of accounting preferred
